The FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee) recently launched a prototype called the Geospatial Platform geoplatform.gov to help users view federal data on a common geographic map. In this open platform, users can collaborate more effectively with data elements on a common operating picture to create unique maps to share with peers. ESRI's ArGIS is the tool of choice to create this geospatial platform and by the looks of things, they did a great job in incorporating an easy to user interface to interact with the data.
